An Interesting Story Involving General Custer

There is a rather interesting story involving General Custer that many may not know.

Following the Civil War, Custer was sent into states that had been in the Confederacy. As he and the cavalry column he was commanding entered one such state, African Americans sought to join the column. Such an episode comes across as both dramatic and touching.

Although some may not regard Custer very well these days, it seems that he and his men were very well regarded by the African Americans that saw them that day.
