Andre would spend winter in an aquarium with other seals in Boston but would swim over a hundred miles home to be with his trainer once winter ended.
Goodridge would put on free shows with Andre for the public and constructed a rather interesting floating pen that became an important part of the man/seal relationship. It allowed andre to have a place to rest, a place to perform tricks, and confinement (when necessary).
